Nabil Boukhaled

Nabil Bukhalid has been involved in international networking since 1993 and established the first Internet connection to Lebanon and the Lebanese Country Code Top Level Domain Registry (LBDR). He has served as administrative contact and registrar for the .LB ccTLD since its creation in 1993 and played a critical role in the definition of the Lebanese DNS tree and in defining the rules that govern the LBDR.  Nabil is also the founder of the Lebanese Academic and Research Network (LARN), co-founder of the Lebanese Broadband Manifesto Support Group (LBSG) and BeirutIX. He is also a co-founder and president of the Internet Society Lebanon Chapter (ISOC-LB) and co-founder and CEO of the Lebanese Internet Center (LINC). Nabil contributed to many Internet governance, strategic planning, capacity building and research efforts in the EMEA region and organized and presented in numerous conferences on technical, governance and socio-economical concepts related to the Internet, knowledge society and open data.

Nabil’s leadership and managerial experience is rich in strategic planning, change management, operation management and paradigm shift challenges. He served for thirty years at the American University of Beirut and his career path have evolved from biomedical engineer to director of computing and networking services and chief enterprise architect with focus on creating value by investigating and implementing innovative information and communication technology solutions for medical care, learning purposes and administration in higher education.

Nabil attended AUB, where he earned both his BEE (1981) and EMBA (2006).
